Oh,,,it also doesn't hurt that he is hitting .421 on the season!!! Owings will be opposed by John Maine of the Mets. Maine has allowed 2 or less runs in 4 straight starts, but has issued 14 walks in those games. He has pitched himself out of numerous jams during this period, and may be due for a letdown against this powerful Diamondback Offense that has scored 17 runs in its last 3 games. Every once in a while you run across a scenario where a pitcher pitches better on the road than at home. This has proven to be true, especially when a pitcher is struggling at home. Bronson Arroyo is 0-3 on the season, allowing 22 runs in 4 home games, but allowed only 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work against Pittsburgh on the 12th of April. Sometimes the road games, allow the pitcher to take some additional pressure off and just get back to the basics. Of course I am taking this chance on Arroyo because the Reds are simply destroying the baseball, having scored 20 runs in their last 2 games. Arroyo will be opposed by Todd Wellemeyer of St. Louis. Wellemeyer has been a surprise this season, going 6+ innings in his last 4 starts. He has however been giving up the long ball this season, and the Reds can certainly take advantage of the long ball if given the opportunity. Arroyo is a good pitcher and has no mechanical problems with his delivery. He should get back to his old form tonight.
